10 on 10 | September Edition / by Carey

In case you forgot what my 10 on 10 project is .... Nine other photographers and myself have joined together and agreed to post 10 images over 10 hours of our day on the 10th day of each month.  Those are the only rules.

Here

was last month's post.

For this month, I chose a special day in our family - August 17, 2011:  the first day that

both

of my children were in preschool.  Little Buddy is in the pre-K class this year and the Little Lady is starting in the 3-year-old class.  And the Mommy got her first morning at home, alllllllll alone!

Unfortunately, this day was also the day that I fell down the stairs while carrying the Little Lady first thing in the morning.  Thankfully she was perfectly fine, minus a huge scare, and I merely bruised (but man, what a bruise!) my backside, my left abs, my left elbow and my back.  I have no idea what happened - my feet just quite literally flew out from under me.  No more bare hardwood steps in our household, let me tell you!  And I was mentally shaken all day long with this near miss!

Next on the circle is

First time in her classroom.  She was rather apprehensive, but we made it with no tears.

I thought it would be fun to document this first day of official "me" time by taking self portraits during the hours they were away.  First off, some quiet time I could read my Bible.  Most wonderful.

Housework time.  Unloading the dishwasher.

Now this was fun and even harder than I expected to achieve!  Laundry.  From inside the dryer.

Picked her up from school.  She chose her outfit.  LOVE that.  In the garage once we got back home, but she refused to look at me.  But she's sucking her thumb and I love that.

FINALLY using the pedals on the tricycle!!!  And her shoes are characteristically on the wrong feet.

This isn't a typical "me" kind of image, but I have fallen in love with it.  I love her curls so much.  She won't let me TOUCH her hair... no bows.  no pony tails.  No anything.

Patiently waiting his turn.

dinnertime.

And this day happens to be my Bible Study group night, so I got to leave the house to meet some friends for dinner at a new Asian restaurant.  And I got to eat sushi!!!!

Don't forget - keep going and see what

Chesney Maxwell

captured on her day!
