flying fairy wings / by Carey

My mom gave me a white frame recently that she thought I could use for Cora's room.  I knew just what I would do with it.

We are so in love with the fairy images that I took of Cora before it got cold.  So I finally sat down last weekend and designed a collage print for that frame.  It arrived yesterday!!!  I was SO excited.  As cool as I thought it was on the computer screen, it was even cooler in person!  I just LOVE it.   Almost everything I've worked with to date graphic design wise has been modifying a pre-made template.  I did all of this on my own.  I didn't do it fast.... but I did it, and I loved doing it, and I'm in love with the final product.

First, here is the print I designed:

Here it is in the frame propped up on the piano!

I can't wait to buy some 3M Command Picture Hanging Strips so I can hang it in her room!  I love every little thing about it.

The font?  I'm not typically a frilly font kind of girl.  But I decided to just see what this one looked like on the print.  Once I clicked it, there was no turning back.  It couldn't have been more perfect.  It is Kevin & Amanda's "Pea Stacy's Doodle Script".  I love, love, love Kevin & Amanda fonts.  I think I could spend an entire day downloading fonts from her...

The tutu and wings are from Danbury Lane.  I've written about her before.  Her craftsmanship is unparalleled.  Seriously.  Rebekah just sent me 2 more tutus to photograph for her and I stood there with my package speechless.  (You can see the edges of the tutus next to the frame above!)   They are phenomenal, and I can not WAIT for it to warm up so we can put little Cora in them!   I love win-win.

Lastly, if you made it this far, here's a little gift if you own Elements or Photoshop.  My frame was an odd size -- 14x18.  I redid the template for 16x20 size.  Download the photoshop template here.  I designed it to be used with clipping masks.
