10 on 10 | April Edition / by Carey

Nearly impossible to believe, it is the 10th of April in 2012.  This brings another of the 10 on 10 posts - my ninth!   My favorite photographic day of the month.  [

The 10on10 is a creative project I'm working on this year along with 10 other photographers around the country.  On the 10th of each month, we post 10 images and link to each other to create a blog-circle.  Our contribution can be 10 photos over the course of one day (as I do it), 10 over the month, 10 favorites, whatever.  Just 10 images that will help us remember these times.  Not perfection photographically, but perfection for our memories.  The goal is to purposely capture our days.

]

I shot for this month's edition on March 27, 2012.  In three days time, Shawn and I would be leaving for a trip to Sedona, Arizona during spring break (our first ever travel during a spring break...).... to celebrate our 10 year anniversary that we accomplished last June.  This was the first time we've been away from the kids for more than a few days.  So I had to shoot early!  And I ended up editing the images in the Phoenix and Dallas airports on the way home!

Please enjoy my share of how we spent our lovely March day and then take a moment to enter the circle and see how

spent her day.

[1]:  This morning, Little Buddy had his kindergarten registration screening, so we got to hang out at home a hour longer than normal.

[2]:  here he is walking into what will be his school in the fall.  So hard to believe we are finally to this milestone.

[3]:  Stopping by the grocery store to pick up snacks for the preschool Easter parties that are as soon as we return from our break.

[4]:  A few days before this the Little Lady tested me to see if I meant what I said.  Perhaps I should see a little bit where her stubborn determination comes from, since I happen to posses that, too.  She's been giving us an awful, awful time with cleaning up her toys and frankly, I'd had it.  So I let her know that if she chose to cause more trouble, to disobey, to play instead of tidy her things, that   e v e r y  s i n g l e  t o y   she owns would be removed to the attic.  Every one.  She made her decision, a poor one, and then had to live with the consequences.  Thankfully, I think this has made quite the impression.  Unfortunately, with little miss strong willed, it takes things of this degree to get her attention.

All that to say, she'd gone several days with none of her toys.  No stuffed animals.  No ponies.  No squinkies.  Nothing.  Resourceful as she is, she decided to play with Gizmo's - the dog's - stuffed toys.  Alas.

But here she was happily playing a peekaboo type game with me, the stuffed bear, and the camera after enjoying an oreo. She insisted we buy Daddy a package of oreos while we were at the grocery store.  And just so you know, I didn't touch her eyes with my photoshop.  These are her eyes, 100%.

[5]:  Picking up Little Buddy from preschool.  He made an awesome nest for a bird this day and couldn't wait to show me.

[6]:  Homemade chocolate chip cookie snack.  This is not an everyday occurrence, but man, I love freezing the extra dough so we can quickly pop these on the baking sheet and enjoy!

[7]:  She is a gatherer.  She gathers and gathers and gathers.... and drops and regathers... and drops again and regathers.  Here she was choosing which would accompany her outside to play.  After snack, I let her choose one toy to return to the playroom, and she chose the stuffed animals.  No surprise there.

[8]:  Karate.  Little Buddy complained just recently that his karate pants were too tight in the waist (and they were - I'm surprised we made it this far), so his new and bigger pants are red, since he's taken for more than a year.  He loves his new red pants.

[9]:  Hurry home from Karate, transfer kid care to the wonderful Aunt Dana, and take off for my Couch to 5K running class.

[10]:  I came home from running to find the kids outside, creating a "witch's brew" with Aunt Dana.  They were having a ball!  This extra early warm weather has been such a blessing.  When Little Buddy got his shirt wet, he asked to take it off and I said yes.  Immediately the Lady insisted she was hot and sweaty and needed to remove her shirt, too.  I figured the days of this are fleeting, so I told her to go for it.
